One of the perks of being where we are now is that it isn’t too far away from Corpus Christi or San Antonio. On this particular day trip we went to Corpus, Portland which is just over the Bay Bridge and Port Aransas which we took the ferry to get to. The photo above was taken towards the end of the day in Portland, Texas. My husband calls this place home partially because he graduated high school here but mostly for it’s beauty and his love for the ocean.
This picture was taken on the ferry on the way from Aransas Pass to Port Aransas where we went to one of the public beaches and I got to swim for my first time in the Gulf of Mexico.
This is the beach in Port Aransas where we went swimming. It was a beautiful day and I had a lot of fun and can’t wait to come back again.
The Oceans of Seafood is a place in Port Aransas, Texas that we stopped for a nice light lunch. The food was amazing. I had seafood gumbo and we split a flounder hoagie.
This seafood gumbo was great, it had fresh shrimp in it and also had a nice zip of spice in it. I want to have this again. 🙂
This was the fresh flounder hoagie. The fish was perfectly cooked, flaky and juicy and the tomatoes were nice and fresh and lightly salted and those dill pickles were perfect. They had a zing of dill to punch that sourness to you and those fries were perfect too. So if you’re ever in Port Aransas and want a fresh seafood meal stop at the Oceans of Seafood, you can also buy some fresh fish and seafood to take home so bring your cooler!
